What's Up, Dog?

I have got to be the biggest slacker in the blogger world... Uh. I am just (finally) coming off the flu and 'crawling out of the deep dark hole.' In the process of doing that, I realized that there is a great big world out there that is still functioning. Perhaps I will join it...?

It has been wet and chilly most days so Jacie is definitely feeling cooped up. I try to take her out as often as possible but the Spring has not sprung, if you know what I mean and a wheelchair in the mud is not handy. So she and I sit in the house and bicker at each other. We are like two college roommates who probably shouldn't live together...

Her leg is healing nicely. The doctor didn't even give me a hard time for my role in her great fall [s]. He said that she was going to do that sometimes. Whew! I guess I am off the hook...right? Yeah, probably not. I follow her around like a crazy lady now. No wonder she feels so cooped up. I have to say though that she loves having me do everything for her. When she first came, I figured out that someone must have spoiled her and done just about everything for her. It was then I decided to teach her how to take care of herself. So for nine months, I worked at that. Pushing her a little. Requiring her to pick up after herself. Well, those of you who have been reading know. I even felt like the mean mom (actually I am the mean mom) when I made her dress herself after swimming. All of the other kids' moms wanted to help, I did not. So I felt a little awkward. All of the other kids in that class were four and five. Jacie was going on nine... In my book, that is a huge difference. All of that to say that we are back to square one. Even further than square one. I have to be with her for everything. She cannot pick up her things. She LOVES it. She is truly driving me crazy. Every night, she asks if she can sleep in bed with me. Every night. She then cries when I say no. As I have every night since she came. She does deal with manipulation. She is cute and not afraid to use it. There are some days that I truly wonder if her will is stronger than mine but then I think about waking up to three people in my bed in the morning and Bam...my will comes back full force. What a little stinker.

She is quite an engaging creature though. Today, while we were running errands, she decided that she and I were going to take over the world. The first order of business for us...? To get rid of the boys. Nothing like a little sibling rivalry to make a happy home. She decided (with assistance) that instead of 'killing' them, we would put them to sleep, take over the world and when they woke up they could be our slaves. Here is where she inserted a very evil laugh. What a piece of work. I have to say that my life is rarely boring. She makes me laugh everyday. Yesterday when Loren walked into the room, she said, "What's up, Dog?"

That is when I rolled my eyes...

Precious little makes me as happy in my heart as the laughter of this little girl (well, and her sleeping slaves...)
