AK 47

I am sitting (yes, that is worth mentioning since I NEVER get the opportunity to do that) in the kitchen watching the deer run across the field. I only have about a minute to post because my little princess will be up here asking to do school. I conveniently sent her down to do Chinese in order to post a little something on this blog. Heavens- I am a busy woman.

As you can see, Jacie did get her leg brace and she loves it. She wants to wear it all of the time, never complains about its fit and wants another one made for her other leg- NOT! Oh my gravy that kid has complained about the brace every waking second since we brought it home. She has begged, cried and manipulated in her quest to avoid it. Sounds fun, huh?

I guess it is good that I am cut out of the mean mom cloth or it probably would have found a permanent place in her closet by now. She really needs to wear this brace. It is imperative for her future walking ability- so she will. That doesn't mean that I don't dread the morning ritual.

Other than that, she is doing great. She is adapting to her 1 inch lift and seems to walk better in it. I am glad about that because the repeated nose-dives were getting old for her. I have to say, when she has the knee brace on and the 1 inch lift, she walks better. In the last couple of months she has been complaining of pain in her surgery/plate areas. My guess is that they are ready to be taken out. So it is good news that the surgery is scheduled. Today we will go and see Dr. Nowicki. He is her orthopedic surgeon. She really likes him but I am afraid that he is in for it today because she does not enjoy her leg brace and he ordered it! So if you are reading this, Dr. Nowicki, be ready- Jacie the spitfire is on the war path!

Last night we celebrated Valentine's Day. According to Jacie, I was making a big special meal for 'our' husband. Those of you who have been following know that Jacie and I have this ongoing war over who is rightfully married to daddy. She'll sit and hold his hand- cooing the whole time. Too funny.

She is such a corker. When she and I were shopping for Bart's present yesterday she said, "I want to get daddy a gum for Valentine's Day."

I replied, "Great idea"

I then proceeded to the gum aisle and said, "Pick one."

"Not gum" she said, "GUM!"

I said, "This is gum."

"No, I want to get him a machine gum."

That is when I figured out that my little princess wanted to get her daddy a machine gun for Valentine's. How many daddies can say that their little pretty girl wanted to get them an AK 47 as a gift of love? Any questions? Take a look at her playing this morning...she has definitely put her brace to good use.

This is quite a journey. I continue to be in awe of where we are placed.

I have been found- I must now school my little soldier/super hero.
