Some Days are Just Like That

I am not sure how long I can post because I am under restriction...

I have logged in under the hospital's internet and when I went to go to this site it said that I have ten minutes of 'quota time.' Uhhmm.. I guess I can be on Facebook as much as I like but can only blog for ten minutes. Wierd. Well, I better get to it.

Jacie is doing well this morning. She is VERY stiff and sore, of course. I wish you could see the amount of hardware that they put into this child. It is actually a little disturbing. Yesterday, I had a great nurse who worked really hard through the night in order to get her pain under control. I really liked him. This morning is the not the same story. Oh, well. I guess you'll have that sometimes. Unfortunately, when her meds get delayed, her pain becomes magnified.

She will have Physical Therapy this afternoon. It will be the first time since she awoke that she will move, much less, get up. It is going to hurt. She needs to learn how to use crutches up stairs and around in order to go home. I would be surprised if she gets it on the first try. I don't think I would. She might relish getting out of the bed but I know that all the movement will hurt. The nurses don't seem to understand that her other leg is, in essence, paraylsed below the knee. When they moved her up in the bed this morning, they left her shifted sideways and sitting on her bad hip as they walked out of the door they said, "She can use her other leg to move over until she is comfortable."

That lasted about five minutes. She was actually sitting on her bad hip and the pain was huge. I finally had to call them back and have them move her.It took them kquite awhile to get back to her and I wished that they would have listened to me in the beginning.

She hasn't eaten anything this morning. She will smell, well...she smells everything but she wants nothing to do with it. Hopefully when her daddy gets here with the oranges that she has been asking for, she will try it.

I will try t o post a couple of pictures. Yes, I have been snapping them periodically, much to her delight. She smiled a little for the camera this morning. I also have pictures of the surgery. I will scan them in when I go home so that you can see what we've done.

Hope all is well for you.

  1. you got to watch the surgery!? that's incredible.

  2. No, they just brought us out copies of the X-rays so that we could see what was done. Sorry I led you astray, Sarah and thanks for the information about the medical equipment. I looked it up.
