Schmoozer...Again

You wouldn't believe where I am right now...

So I am just going to tell you. I am currently holed up in a hotel room in Billings, Montana. Yeah, its true. I have flown out here to visit one of my very good friends from high school- she had twin boys on Thursday. Originally I was going to surprise her but yesterday I called and gave the heads-up that I was coming so that she would not be overwhelmed. Twins and a two year old...

All I can say is that I am glad that I lived through that age and stage with my children. Well, except Jacie. Those of you who have been following know that we adopted her at the age of eight (last year.) There are times I wish that I had been in her life when she was little- I would have loved to have seen her as a toddler but I do not dwell very long on that fact because it did not happen and will not. Perhaps that is why God picked us out for Jacie...? Our favorite age for children is right where she is.

She has been growing again. And she is definitely a carnivore. I was beginning to think that she leaned toward being a vegetarian more than a meat eater but in the last week she turned on me. She now craves BK double stackers- daily. Those of you who know your way around a Burger King know that a BK stacker has a hamburger patty and bacon on it. A DOUBLE stacker? Two hamburger patties...

I have been trying to 'cut her back'- she was asking for one every single day. What a funny little girl. She cycles through her food tastes continually.

She has been doing physical therapy (PT.) It is amazing how a little bit of PT can make such a difference for her walking but it does. We also finally filled her prescription for her shoe lift. I almost cried the first time that I saw her walk across the room in it. She has always swung her hips to compensate for her leg being shorter. When she got the lift in, she looked so very tall and able. I was so proud. It amazes me that I get so emotional about her. She is definitely my girl.

I have been gone for four days. I miss her. I am not certain that she is in the same dilemma. I heard that she schmoozed her daddy into letting her sleep on the sofa. She is definitely a schmoozer- so I am not surprised but unfortunately I will have to go through the whole sleeping upstairs ordeal when I get home tomorrow. Just a little something to look forward to. I guess I kinda deserve it for going away for four days...

What a tremendous time I have had while road trip 'ping' through the west. I love to drive and love good scenery. It has been a breathe of fresh air for me to have this time. I have learned to take the needed time. While I was gone, I met some great people at every stop. My favorites were the couple who ran the the Wild Within shop in Red Lodge, MT. (If you guys stop into my website, let me know. I would love it.) They had a classy little shop. Really something to see.

As much as I have enjoyed my little excursion, I am ready to see the kids again. They are getting ready for fair and I wouldn't miss the one month prep time for anything. Jacie has a puzzle, a poster and I am going to attempt to teach her to sew. I think I told you already about my crazy plan. I think that she will enjoy it. I, on the other hand, will probably be seen out in my yard pulling my hair from head out of frustration. I am not the perfect teacher (funny since I home school my kids) and she is not the best listener. Yeah, we make a great team. Anyway, she loves the fair and cannot wait to sleep in the camper for the whole week (it is a whole week of not having to fight going to bed...because I am sleeping right next to her.) She has also developed quite a taste for Kate's Pizza- YUM! I think my whole family just waits until that first day when Kate's opens...

I included a picture of Jacie shoveling with her brothers. It cracked me up- the shovel is just about as big as her. I am blessed.

  1. Our boys enjoyed playing with Jacie at the fireworks. I told them she's gotten the lift to help her walk better. Clay's eyebrows went up, "But she can run fast..." I guess he didn't think she really needed it, but he's only 7.
