Walking, Running, Reading and a Pretty Purple Bible

Again there have been many changes in our house since we last 'chatted' and I have not been able to sit down at the computer. Int the move, we had to change all of the computer system stuff around. While doing so, we upgraded to a wireless router system but the big computer [the one with all of the pictures] is not connected to the Internet yet because I have to download some system upgrades. All of this to say, "No picture tonight either..."

Jacie has been doing well. She is an amazing person. Today she got her first Bible. She is very interested in the Bible and what it says. She picked the 'pretty purple one' and Bart and I got it engraved with her name. The Christian book store now does that for a small fee while you wait. The joy of modern technology. Her name is in rainbow...

It is fun to have a girl.

She also read her first book today. It was one of the little BOB books- which is a reading curriculum that I used for the boys as well. I have to admit, I was a little worried that she would struggle but she has enjoyed it so greatly that I think she will be ready to read that pretty purple Bible in no time. She is still struggling through the alphabet letters- BOB books teach by sight word. I want her to learn both. I am excited though to have her reading. She spent so much time in China watching TV that learning to read is kinda a back burner thing for her. I placed it on the front burner when I told her that she could not watch anymore movies until she could read and read well. I think that will motivate her.

In about a week, she and I are finally going to sew that apron I talked about in September. I think that she will enjoy that. I told you we would get it done before family cookie making day. Let's hope that I am right.

Jacie walks so tall now. Her physical therapy has done wonders for her. We are off for two weeks because we have hit our limit for the year and I am trying to negotiate with the insurance company to get her more. Many people have said, "You should put her on the state program. People who do never have to pay anything for their child's medical needs."

You might be surprised at how many times I have heard that. Bart and I really don't desire to do that unless it becomes a necessity. We always have fully intended to cover all of her needs and can't imagine not doing so on our own. Having said that- we are looking at a large pt bill in the course of a year to keep her going. I cannot even tell you how good she is doing from the pt though. She is so much stronger and able. When she first came, she couldn't walk through Walmart. Now she is able to do that with ease. She is very weak on the left side though and does about 80% of her activity off the right. We are trying to get her to use her left leg more. She needs to strengthen it in order to correctly do stairs [she does not use her right leg much to do them] and run. We really feel as though these next couple of years are critical for her development and her future as a teenager and into adulthood. I know that this will all work out and the insurance company will be fair.

I continue to be amazed at the journey God has placed me. I am blessed every day.
